Million Dollar Little G

We went to a park with the Mentor Tech students and had a picnic. Gary and Garyn played basketball in the gym. Toni and the big girls attempted the sack races. Later a group of Tech students started choosing sides for a softball game. Garyn wanted to play but was un-noticed until she took a few practice swings while they were choosing players. Upon hearing the sound of the alumnium bat connecting with the ball, one of them said, "why don't you play with us?" Before her protective parents could say no thanks, Garyn yelled "Sure!"

She got two great hits and made it safely to second base on the first round. She was a blonde speck among a sea of taller, African-American athletes as she took the infield to play second base with a borrowed pink and purple glove.

On the next full inning she was almost thrown out at first, but narrowly escaped thanks to a novice first-basemen. Later after a teammate had a solid hit to the outfield she was thrown out at home. Both times at bat, and as she was running the bases, her teammates picked up her nickname we often use. You could hear them chanting "Go litl' G. Go litl' G."
That just made her day!
